Match updates for 23rd / 24th Feb

Play-off hopefuls Blackburn (Shirley) earned their 5th clean sheet in 9 games when they hosted Dave’s Leeds but a goalless draw suggests that both teams may need to up their games, and create more chances, if they’re to be genuine challengers.  Lyn’s Blackpool played Pete’s Leicester and whilst the game resulted in a goalless draw Blackpool did managed 12 shots on goal with Thomas Ince and Eardley going close.  Despite the result Lyn is still in touch with a cheap curry due to the Shirley/Dave draw.  Amy’s Hull may be chasing automatic promotion but that meant nothing when they visited Marg’s Bolton and had their defence breached three times in the first eight minutes and finally got spanked 4-1.  Bolton appear to be adopting a Welsh recruitment policy with three players called Davies in their match day squad.  Dan’s Brighton maintained their impressive defensive record (conceding only once in the last 394 mins) when they earned a slender 1-0 win over the wife (aka Anna’s Burnley).  Burnley battled well, and were unlucky not to come away with something, but are now 5 games without a win.  A glimmer of hope for Kelly’s Bristol when they hosted Barnsley.  They might be 2nd from bottom (and hopefully for me they stay there!!) but a 5-3 victory (2 goals by former Tractor boy Jon Stead) halted their opponents six-match unbeaten run, and means they have completed four successive league victories on home soil for the first time since April 2011.  Coleslaw Majewski got back to scoring form when Mick’s Forrest claimed away victory at Jane’s Charlton, which kept them in the mix for the promotion play-off spots.  Charlton weren’t helped when Yann Kermorgant’s petulance resulted in a red card.  Andy’s Huddersfield took on the magnificent Tractor Boys….sadly the same thing can’t be said of the game, which was very ordinary/dire and ended up as a 0-0 draw.  One shot in 90 minutes for the Tractor Boys doesn’t exactly inspire confidence for the end of season run in!!!  Peterborough did nothing to aid their survival hopes when they lost 2-0 to Chris’s Birmingham, who enhanced their survival chances.  On the plus side The Posh have two games in hand and could still increase the cost of someone’s curry!!  Ted’s Sheffield Wednesday extended their 7 match unbeaten run with a late 1-0 victory over Paula’s Crystal Palace, who are now 4 points away from an automatic promotion spot and haven’t won away in the last 10 games.  The yellow mist must have descended too with 5 bookings…  Scott’s Watford took over 2nd place in the Championship with a 2-1 win over Jim’s Derby and looked good to now boast the best record in the Championship in 2013, with seven wins, one draw, two defeats and 22 points from 10 games.  Sunday’s game saw Keith’s Cardiff visit Sue’s Wolves and continue the inexorable march to title glory with Fraizer Campbell scoring his 5th goal in five games.  To add to Wolves misery and Sue’s pricey curry Sylvan Ebanks-Blake missed a late 5-yard sitter...

    1. Yep - will post a revised table later today. Thanks for doing the match reports. A win for Kelly but a loss for me. Probably the best way round in terms of cost of curry, but I'd rather Derby were winning a bit more often.
