Match Update: 12/02/13

(Posted by Jim on behalf of Lyn)

Well a momentous occasion indeed - my first foray into being a football pundit - here goes my attempt at copying ooops I mean writing about this weeks football matches :-)

Firstly, in general I should point out that the RBS 6 nations is far easier on the eye and in my next life I'd like to be a rugby physio - hmmmmm - sorry got briefly distracted there, so anyway back to the footie. So Tuesday saw 3 matches take place in the Championship: Dan v Shirley, Amy v Jim and last but not least Colin v Dave.

The highlight game was Amy's 2 -1 victory over Jim - one nil after 47 minutes and for the majority of the rest of the match. An exciting final flurry saw Jim's team equalise in the 84th minute before Amy took full advantage of the additional 6 minutes on the clock with Ahmed Elmohamady's late header securing the 3 points to send Hull second in the Championship.  So with Dan and Shirley it was Dan's game pretty much all the way with Brighton narrowly missing 4 chances within the first 12 minutes. Despite Shirley's team also missing a couple of chances they took the lead in the first half only to see a penalty in the second half secure a point for Brighton at home. As for Colin and Dave let's just say 3 points went to Colin following a 1-0 victory - it's a good job Dave's on holiday and hopefully missed the match!! Dave can take small comfort in that it's Middlesbrough's first victory over Leeds on home turf in 11 attempts, the last one dating back to 1992.
