The also rans .. swum, rowed, shot, lifted ... Dave B, Jane, Kate, Jon

Dave B bought his Poland shirt and wore it with pride when supporting his Polish team at volleyball but his loyalty was not repaid with sufficient medals.  His biggest collection was bronzes - two sailing, one canoe sprint, one rowing (were they British) and one weightlifting and one wrestling. Six was not enough to lead any of our medal tables.  In addition he also claimed silvers in athletics and shooting and gold in men's shot put and hammer throwing.

Jane's Azerbaijan stormed it in the wrestling collecting a total of two gold, two silver and three bronze.  However, collecting just two bronze boxing and one weightlifting gave her only six in the bronze table, once again too little to make an impact - unlike her competitors probably!  Regardless of the result, Jane is ready for some end of games partying!
Kate's island nation of New Zealand proved their love of water with golds in rowing (x 3), sailing and canoe sprint. A silver in sailing and two bronzes in rowing added to the tally along with the land sports of BMX cycling and women's Shot Put (both silver), and bronze in track cycling (x2) and equestrian.  A total of 5 - 3- 5 looked in with a shout for a while in the over points but didn't end up that way.  Interesting training kit, not sure the headgear really protects from the sun.

As expected Jon's Kenya made no impression on the medal table until the athletics began. Golds in Men's 800m and 3000m steeplechase, silver in man and women's marathon (that's two events) and women's 10,000m and 5,000m and bronze in women's 10,000m, men's marathon, men's 3,000 steeplechase, men's 800m and men's 5000 (behind Mo - hurrah :-)).  But 2-4-5 wasn't enough to run amok in our tables. Jon's athletes run so far in training they take a few food snacks along with them in case they get peckish!
