In contention

So the games draws to a close and it's time to focus on who had a solid performance but didn't make it to the top of our table.
Asta's Kazakhstan had taken medals early on in the hunt for the Gold medal pot, but her six medals of which she collected four golds in Weightlifting and one each in Athletics, Boxing and Road Cycling weren't enough. If only she could have been a bit better with the other medals she picked up - one silver in Boxing and three bronze in Weightlifting and two in Boxing. Is Marmalade sandwiches the secret of her success?

For a long time Lyn's Romania was lording it over the rest  and had been leading the silver medal table and accumulated 5 during the games in Fencing, Gymnastics, Weightlifting and two in Judo. If only the bronzes in Gymnastics and Weightlifting had been better and Golds in Gynmastics and Shooting not so good, maybe Lyn would have kept the Silver crown.

So as Lyn faltered, Naughty Ted (Belarus) stepped up to the mark to match her collection of five. Two in the canoe sprint, two in swimming and one in Gymnastics to equal Lyn's haul.  The five bronzes gained in Tennis, Gymnastics, Canoe Sprint and two in tennis weren't good enough to overtake Lyn and the Gold in Shooting and Tennis too good. And why did you want that tennis gold!!

In the race for bronzes Amy's Brazil (Bra-zil) collected 9. Three in Judo, two in Boxing, one in Beach Volleyball, Modern Pentathlon, Swimming and Sailing.  Their fans have been colourful and enthusiastic and perhaps cheered them on too well when they achieved their five silvers in Beach Volleyball, Football, Boxing, Swimming and Volleyball  and gold in Judo, volleyball and Gymnastics. If only they had faltered a little there, Amy may have been taking the cash.  Good effort on support and photos though Amy. Random shaped medal in this photo!
