On the Podium

So after more than two weeks of competition - who made it to the podium..?

James' Hungary were late starters in collecting medals but achieved a total of 8 GOLDS to take the crown.  They secured 3 Golds in Canoe Sprint, two in Rowing and one each in Athletics, Fencing, Artistic Gymnastics.  In addition they also gained silvers in Canoe Sprint (2), Judo and Wrestling and a bronze in each of Canoe Sprint, Judo, Modern Pentathlon. Swimming and Wrestling.
Pete's Spain managed just three golds – two in Sailing and one in Taekwondo and bronzes in Canoe Slalom, Handball, Synchronised Swimming and Wrestling. The main achievement was in the Silvers with a total of 10 Silvers made up of two in each of Canoe Sprint, Taekwondo and Swimming and one in in each of Basketball, Synchronised Swimming, Triathlon and Water Polo.  Not often that Pete is happy that he was second best!
Christine's Canada didn't feature high up in the official medal table as they collected only one gold in Gymnastics trampoline and two silvers in Rowing and one each in canoe sprint, swimming and wrestling.  However their real success as far as we are concerned was lower down the colours with an excellent haul of bronzes.  The total of twelve was achieved by two in each of Swimming, Diving and Canoe Sprint and one each in Athletics, Track Cycling, Football, Judo, Weightlifting and Wrestling.

And the overall winner in the number of points with 3 for Gold, 2 for Silver and 1 for Bronze is James with Hungary.

We could have had a presentation after volleyball on Wednesday but as none of the winners will be there - no point in that one. Winnings on there way soon.

Well done all :-).  Till Rio...
