Here are the rules, read them carefully.

CCC Rules re-cap
CCC ... the Championship Curry Competition Rules (in brief).

1. Everyone picks a different team from the Championship division.
 2. A team is for life, not just for one curry.  If your first choice team leaves the competition due to success or failure you will need to choose another team.
2a. If your team had been relegated and manages the success of promotion back to the Championship, then you get first choice of taking that team back.
2b. If your team had success and was promoted to the Premiership, you can only keep a claim for that team if you saw them play Live in the Champtionship (home or away) at a ground, not on the telly, during the season they got promoted.
If they got promoted and you didn't see them live then you lose claim to that team.
2c.  If you do not take a team back that you had claim to at the first opportunity - you lose the claim to that team.
2d.  If you take the returning team, you lose claim to the team you sacrificed.

3. Once anyone who had a team that was previously in the curry and returns has made their decision, then the remaining available teams are chosen with the person at the bottom choosing first, followed by next to bottom and then the one above that. Then the playoff team, 2nd place and then the winner has the last choice.  If anyone has dropped out then newbies get to choose after previous participants.

4. You don't have to do anything for most of the season, you'll be updated with the 'what's going on' but banter is definitely encouraged (actually obligatory) as is the buying of pin badges, shirts etc and wearing something your-team-related to the curry itself.  The wearing of something to identify your team is compulsory - although imaginative unofficial club outfits are welcome.

5. Near the end of the season we have to agree to a mutually convenient date for the final event of the season - the curry itself.  Two consecutive years of non-attendance means you aren't committed enough and can be thrown out the CCC.

6. The person(s) paying the largest part of the bill gets to choose the venue for the Curry in Horley (or Dave will organize it if you ask him nicely!).

7. The cost of the food bill will be split according to the correct percentages between all those paying. The exact right money must be used to pay for the food. Drinks and tips are not included in the cost of the Curry and are additional.

8. Seating at the curry will be by position.

9. The previous winner of the CCC trophy must decorate it suitably (team colours / badge/ pun on name etc ) and present at the curry itself.

10. The organizer is quite at liberty to make up a new pointless rule each season.

11. IMPORTANT: If you take the manager of another Championship team, ie. they leave their current job for your team, you have to write an apology on the blog! This does not include if your manager is sacked and then takes a new role at someone else's team.  I don't think we abided by this one last year!!!

The complicated bit - the calculation of the percentage of the bill - for which of course Margs has a spreadsheet.
The person (or joint persons) on the most number of points pay nothing for their curry.  The amount paid is calculated depending on how many points you are behind all other people in the CCC.

Curry based on 4 people at £9 a head

So Tom is top and pays nothing for his curry.
Dick is 2 points behind, Harry is 6 points behind Tom and 4 behind Harry so a total of 10 points behind and Joe is 11 behind Tom, 9 behind Dick and 5 behind Harry so a total of 25.  Total number of points is 37. Dick pays 2/37 = 5.4%, Harry pays 10/37 = 27% and Joe pays 25/37 = 67.6% of the bill.

Hope that's all clear. :-)

  1. Will Jan equal my achievement of taking teams down in consecutive seasons? Surely not...
Gotta say - superb away wins for the Baggies and the Addicks :-)
