Match reports & update

There was four of us down the Foresters Friday night as the Dan (Brighton) V Dave (Leeds) match started on the telly. Within 2 minutes Brighton had their first yellow card and within ten minutes Leeds had got one too. Five minutes later Mackail-Smith scored a penalty to give Dan the lead but twenty minutes later El-Hadji Diouf despite looking nervous also scored from the spot to make things level at half time.  The second half started bitty, well for all of two minutes before Mackail-Smith regained the lead for Dan with a shot in the bottom left corner.but again less than twenty minutes later Brown scored for Dave's Leeds, a player which some of the Brighton players had tried to persuade the ref to give a second yellow to. less than ten minutes later and whilst Margs was at the bar and had no idea what was going on, Dave's goalie Kenny saved Mackail-Smith's penalty. And that was the story of the match .... or so I thought, but according to the BBC website Becchio also scored for Leeds although the result remained a 2-2 draw?!?

So what a difference a new manager makes. Anna's new manager inspired a 2-0 win at home to Sue's Wolves. Mick McCarthy, Jan's new manager at Ipswich had a 39% win rate and he looked to increase that with a 1-0 win away at Chris's Birmingham (unlucky team of the week), holding onto their slender lead from the 8th minute.  However, it wasn't enough to move Jan off the bottom of the table despite Kelly losing 1-0 away against Andy. Jane took an early lead at home to Colin but the visitors were level before half time and scored another three in the second half to win 4-1 to head towards the top of the table and leave Jane nearer the bottom of the table and Ted overtook her after a 2-1 win at home to Peterborough.  Lyn's managerless Blackpool continued their poor run (haven't won the last five) and despite a second half penalty lost 4-1 away at Jim's Derby.  Paula's Palace beat Shirley's Blackburn 2-0 - Shirley's new manager having a poor start and Paula's new manager just watching.  Scott's Watford dented Pete's hopes at the top as he won 2-1, the score already achieved before Pete went down to ten men.  Mick remains upper mid-table despite a 1-4 defeat at home to Millwall but Amy rose higher after a 1-0 win against Barnsley.

In the late kick off and CCC Match of the Day, Margs' Bolton hosted the CCC leaders, Keith's Cardiff.  The home team fell behind on 40 minutes as Keith's team scored with their first chance in what was described by the radio reporter as a tepid first half.  But new manager Dougie Freedman made wise substitutions in the second half and they scored a penalty and a second goal five minutes later to take the lead having had a perfectly valid goal disallowed. The home team weer down to ten men in the 90th minute but it was too late for a Cardiff come back so Keith failed to hold onto the top spot on his own and is joined by Colin for a free curry.

Kelly and Jane suffer the most by way of increase since last week.  Jan has his lowest amount since 7th October.
