CC- table after 2 games - it is not going well

Not much I want to say really - but surely it won't be this expensive at the end of another 40 games....
Will Karen regret not taking Charlton or it is the luck of the Kevin striking again. (I so wish I'd bet on them)....  the bottom of the table has a familiar look apart from newbie Keith.

CCC teams and rules and regulations for the new season 2019-2020

Hi All,
A third of us have different teams from last season, those relegated, those promoted and Anna and Andy having taken 'returning' teams.

Luton Amy
Fulham Andy
Barnsley Anna
Birmingham Chris
Middlesbrough Colin
Brentford Dan
Leeds Dave
Cardiff Jan

Wigan Kate
Blackburn Keith
Bristol City Kelly
Charlton Kevin
Reading Lyn
Stoke Margs
Nottm Forest Mick
Swansea Neil

Hull Shirley
Huddersfield Sue
Sheff Wed Ted

And what do we get from that list? that only four people have names that start with a different letter from everyone else!

Here are the rules, read them carefully.

CCC Rules re-cap
CCC ... the Championship Curry Competition Rules (in brief).

1. Everyone picks a different team from the Championship division.
 2. A team is for life, not just for one curry.  If your first choice team leaves the competition due to success or failure you will need to choose another team.
2a. If your team had been relegated and manages the success of promotion back to the Championship, then you get first choice of taking that team back.
2b. If your team had success and was promoted to the Premiership, you can only keep a claim for that team if you saw them play Live in the Champtionship (home or away) at a ground, not on the telly, during the season they got promoted.
If they got promoted and you didn't see them live then you lose claim to that team.
2c.  If you do not take a team back that you had claim to at the first opportunity - you lose the claim to that team.
2d.  If you take the returning team, you lose claim to the team you sacrificed.

3. Once anyone who had a team that was previously in the curry and returns has made their decision, then the remaining available teams are chosen with the person at the bottom choosing first, followed by next to bottom and then the one above that. Then the playoff team, 2nd place and then the winner has the last choice.  If anyone has dropped out then newbies get to choose after previous participants.

4. You don't have to do anything for most of the season, you'll be updated with the 'what's going on' but banter is definitely encouraged (actually obligatory) as is the buying of pin badges, shirts etc and wearing something your-team-related to the curry itself.  The wearing of something to identify your team is compulsory - although imaginative unofficial club outfits are welcome.

5. Near the end of the season we have to agree to a mutually convenient date for the final event of the season - the curry itself.  Two consecutive years of non-attendance means you aren't committed enough and can be thrown out the CCC.

6. The person(s) paying the largest part of the bill gets to choose the venue for the Curry in Horley (or Dave will organize it if you ask him nicely!).

7. The cost of the food bill will be split according to the correct percentages between all those paying. The exact right money must be used to pay for the food. Drinks and tips are not included in the cost of the Curry and are additional.

8. Seating at the curry will be by position.

9. The previous winner of the CCC trophy must decorate it suitably (team colours / badge/ pun on name etc ) and present at the curry itself.

10. The organizer is quite at liberty to make up a new pointless rule each season.

11. IMPORTANT: If you take the manager of another Championship team, ie. they leave their current job for your team, you have to write an apology on the blog! This does not include if your manager is sacked and then takes a new role at someone else's team.  I don't think we abided by this one last year!!!

The complicated bit - the calculation of the percentage of the bill - for which of course Margs has a spreadsheet.
The person (or joint persons) on the most number of points pay nothing for their curry.  The amount paid is calculated depending on how many points you are behind all other people in the CCC.

Curry based on 4 people at £9 a head

So Tom is top and pays nothing for his curry.
Dick is 2 points behind, Harry is 6 points behind Tom and 4 behind Harry so a total of 10 points behind and Joe is 11 behind Tom, 9 behind Dick and 5 behind Harry so a total of 25.  Total number of points is 37. Dick pays 2/37 = 5.4%, Harry pays 10/37 = 27% and Joe pays 25/37 = 67.6% of the bill.

Hope that's all clear. :-)

Final cost of curry

The season is now complete (bar the playoffs) and Kate finishes the season with a free curry.  But as far as I know if Norwich do come back down at some point Kate won't have first grabs as she didn't see them, but Kevin did see his Sheffield United so he can make a claim should they return.

Jan managed a rare win which actually saved himself £2.64 compared to the cost if Dave has won.  Jan does of course get first choice at teams after any have been reclaimed.

Here is how much you all owe.  Exact money required please and those with a cheap curry pay the tip

Promotion / Relegation & not playing matches - it all happened this weekend!

So congratulations to Kate who's Norwich got promoted on Saturday - shame you didn't get to see them Kate - no claim if they sink back down.  Also promoted was Kevin's Sheffield Utd (he wisely did see them), after a weird situation today when Leeds let Aston Villa score an equalising goal after a fracas when Leeds scored when a player was injured. The rules say 'play to the whistle' and the ref did not blow up to stop the game for Villa's injured player so Leeds had every right to play on (and then they scored) rather than be kind and kick the ball out of play.  A change of rules in the future - unlikely as that could result in players feigning injury even more than they already do!  But back to today... so mathematically it may have been hard for Leeds to get automatic promotion, but it was still possible when Leeds apparently just let Villa score (not seen it yet to know quite what happened) and then that begs the question as Mick so rightly pointed out .. the bookies and betting - if you had 1-0 Leeds you'd be a little unhappy with a gifted goal, so will the bookies end up paying for 1-0 and 1-1 and then they will be grumpy instead.  Wait to see if the FA comment...

Dave, Karen and Amy are guaranteed a playoff place.  Elsewhere yesterday Jim's Derby beat Kelly's Bristol City to claim the 6th spot.  Kelly has a game in hand so could still clinch 6th if she wins both her games and Jim and Colin's Middlesborough lose their final matches or if the results go the right/wrong way Colin could take 6th.

At the expensive end of the table, Neil's Rotherham have now been confirmed as relegated along with Jan and Sue.  But naughty Sue's financial troubles caught up with her (and the new guys who wants to buys doesn't seem to want to give up the cash) so the players went on strike and refused to play against Dan's Brentford.  They have been told they have to play during this week.. watch this space.  Any points deductions etc will impact Bolton next season if they happen - so no let off there Jan.  It was a busy weekend...

CCC - only a few games left

So Norwich didn't get promoted today, but Dave has reduced his chances of automatic promotion after losing to Dan today (nice time down the pub with 1/3 of the CCC crew - except for the result).  Since I last posted Sue's Bolton have been relegated.  Not happy that I an spending more than the £11 - not sure that I will manage to get under (again!).  Amy's Villa is the inform team with Aston Villa winning 10 in a row.  Still pricey for Jan and Sue.  Info about the curry to be emailed out soon.

Bye Bye to one of the founders

A draw for Jan against Chris saw one of the founder members of the CCC, Ipswich, leave the division with relegation.  With Dave hoping for Lees promotion, could next season be the first without any of the three teams? Or will Pompey make it back up (fingers crossed).  Sue's Bolton are not doing well and if Sue's finances are similar to that of her club, she won't be able to pay for the curry - players and staff have not been paid for weeks.  It is possible that Jan might not finish bottom as they are picking up the odd point along the way. Four or five games left....
