CCC update as we hit the international break

 Hi all,

Time for the international break. Some teams will be happy with a break whilst others have the momentum with them. No team has an unbeaten record in tact by Neil's Swansea are on top whilst Anna continues to cling on to the bottom of the table.

In other news....

Chris's Birmingham are taking bricks from the local hospital to help build their stadium

Jan's Cardiff player Krystian Bielik has been charged by the FA following the assault on a young Pompey fan not that his owner would know as he hasn't been to watch a match in 1,000 days

Amy's Southampton manager Eckert has asked for forgiveness as he awaits the verdict on him plotting Spygate last season

Dave's Wrexham owners have bought the local pub 'The Turf' located next to the ground, presumably ensuring fans can still get a pint

Ted's Lincoln now have a 15 game streak of winning midweek matches. Next up for them midweek is West Ham on 14th October - enjoy that one Ted

 no time for a table ..

just to say 

Mick's West Ham was top and now Lyn's West Brom is top.

I thought they would both appreciate a mention as they were much further down at the start and not just alphabetically.

Neil, Paula and Rob are in hot pursuit.

Scott has the bottom spot with Anna not far above.  More in a week or so

after match day 5 25/26

 What a funny old game football is and so unpredictable.

Bottom of the table Sue's Stoke beat top of the table Rob's Charlton 4-0 saving Sue about £32. (Sue you don't have to save so much this week). Ted's Lincoln did a fine job of drawing with Amy's Southampton and Kelly's Bristol City won again to leave Anna's Burnley firmly at the bottom.  But it is early days.

Some teams have mid week matches this week whilst others are in some sort of cup tournament that those who treasure the CCC the most opted out of at the first opportunity.

Don't forget now is a great time to look on ebay for the all important end of season shirt. We need more actual shirts for the curry photo. :-)

Three matches in.... 2026/27

 Those in the know will know why I am posting this now, before tonight's matches....

The weekend started with Chris' Birmingham beating Dave's Wrexham, Ted's Lincoln (favourites for the drop) beat Dan's Bolton to help his rise up the table and Kelly's Bristol City beat my Portsmouth for the umpteenth time. Rob's Charlton  beat Scott's Preston to take top spot and put Scott second from bottom, Lee's Watford diplomatically drew 1-1 with Mick's West Ham (kindly scored an own goal as Mick wasn't capable of scoring any of his own).  Once again Amy's Southampton conceded the first goal to Sharon's Millwall who had been top and then the floodgates opened and Amy's team scored 5 to take them out of the relegation zone.

So here is the table now before hopefully Chris' team will continue their winning streak and beat Amy :-).

Table after two matches - August 2026

 Of course I would post this with Southampton still on minus points, but their visitors Stoke (Sue) fell apart at the end of the match letting Southampton score in 89th minute, Stoke had a player sent of 90+3 and Southampton scored the resulting penalty, so the home team won 3-1 and took 3 points.  This has massively reduced Amy's debt.

At the top only 3 teams remain unbeaten and in goal difference order it is Sharon, Lyn and Rob. (Of course if this was the end of the season Lyn and Rob would be paying 1p each. 

Kelly was keen to let us know that there were more red cards and for her team, so Kate's Norwich as well as Sue's Stoke have now accumulated a red card each. Jon's Derby have the most yellow's with 8!

So here is the all important table for now, next CCC matches on Friday and Saturday

 

2026-27 season up and running (for some more than others)

 Just a reminder that naughty Southampton started on -4 points due to Spygate during the playoffs last season. (Amy didn't want promotion - she wanted to make the most of the shirt!)

So before the season started Amy was paying the estimated full whack of £384 (assuming £16 a head curry).  This has quickly whittled down after just one weekend of games to a mere £100.03 (less than Ted's final bill last season).  The key thing to note is Pompey are still above Southampton for at least one more match as newcomer Lee's Watford kindly beat the 'Scummers'.  It must have been some match!. Watford had only 34% possession and won 2-1 and in the process accumulated a whopping 6 yellow cards! Lee you need to learn to play nicely!  Not as bad as Kelly's Bristol City who had player Randell sent off for a 2nd yellow - the first red card of the season.

A key thing to note is the change which means after the final scheduled match of the season, even more teams have the chance to escape the CCC.  They have changed the rules and now 8 teams go into the playoffs. 3rd and 4th are straight into the semis and 5th-8th play a one legged quarter final to see who will make the semis.  Whilst the 8th team may get to the dizzy heights of the premiership, it won't make a penny's difference to the cost of their curry and that is the way it should be :-)

Three early kick-offs on saturday. Will Ted's Lincoln gain their first points at these dizzy heights for 65years in their match against Pompey.  Probably - I am generally quite generous to Ted (and most people to be fair)
