CCC - the rules recap

CCC ... the Championship Curry Competition

 The rules (in brief).
1. Everyone picks a different team from the Championship division.

 2. A team is for life, not just for one curry. However, there is a slight amendment to this. If your first choice team leaves the competition due to success or failure you will need to choose another team.  However, should your team then suffer failure or manage success and re-appear in the Championship you will get first option of reverting to your originally chosen team.

 

3. Once anyone who had a team that was previously in the curry and returns has made their decision, then the remaining available teams are chosen with the person at the bottom choosing first, followed by next to bottom and then the one above that. Then the playoff team, 2nd place and then the winner has the last choice.  If anyone has dropped out then newbies get to choose after that.

4. You don't have to do anything for most of the season, you'll be updated with the 'what's going on' but banter is definitely encouraged (actually obligatory) as is the buying of pin badges, shirts etc and wearing something your-team-related to the curry itself.

5. Near the end of the season we have to agree to a mutually convenient date for the final event of the season - the curry itself.

 

6. The person(s) paying the largest part of the bill gets to choose the venue for the Curry in Horley.

7. The cost of the food bill will be split according to the correct percentages between all those paying. The exact right money must be used to pay for the food. Drinks and tips are not included in the cost of the Curry and are additional.

 

8. IMPORTANT: If you take the manager of another Championship team, ie. they leave their current job for your team, you have to write the next week's match reports! This does not include if your manager is sacked and then takes a new role at someone elses team.

 The complicated bit - the calculation of the percentage of the bill.
The person (or joint persons) on the most number of points pay nothing for their curry.  The amount paid is calculated depending on how many points you are behind all other people in the CCC.

So Tom is top and pays nothing for his curry.
Dick is 2 points behind, Harry is 6 points behind Tom and 4 behind Harry so a total of 10 points behind and Joe is 11 behind Tom, 9 behind Dick and 5 behind Harry so a total of 25.  Total number of points is 37. Dick pays 2/37 = 5.4%, Harry pays 10/37 = 27% and Joe pays 25/37 = 67.6% of the bill.

The CCC welcomes Kate, Kevin and Neil to this season's competition so we have a full house of 24 'owners'.  We should have done it Buckingham Palace style with a easel outside the house. In fact Kate's team Yeovil did just that with a notice announcing the loan signing of Alan Tate from Swansea.

CCC - Paula's team leaves CCC and some new teams chosen

Paula was crying into her beer after Palace scored and extra time penalty to ensure their exit from the CCC. After Jane, Kelly and Sue had chosen their teams, Paula chose Charlton.  Teams taken so far are below.

FA Cup & CCC Play off update

So in the FA Cup Dan's Wigan took the first prize after an 88th minute goal against Jane's Man City.  Congratulations Dan.

Wigan will be up for grabs next season as they got relegated last night, but Dan won't have the opportunity to pick them as his Brighton will still be in the Championship after losing 2-0 to Paula's Palace in the semis of the play-off. In the 2nd leg of the other semi there was a dramatic few minutes of stoppage time where Pete's Leicester player dived, the Foxes missed the penalty and from the resulting play Watford scored a winner.  Scott will be playing Paula in the play off at the end of the month.

I'd missed the fact that Kelly's Bristol City had an O'Kelly as first team coach.

Not anymore though - he had resigned.

FA Cup Final Day - Dan V Jane

So having started at Round 2 our sweepstake finishes today.

It is Dan (Wigan) V Jane (Man City).

Dan started with Bournemouth but had Wigan by the beginning of January.
Jane started with Morecambe and it has been a varied journey with Coventry, Spurs and Leeds before she got Man City.

The monies:
£19 + £1* for the winner
£5 + £1* for the losing finalist

£2 for the losing semi finalists, Chelsea - Christine

* No-one had Millwall  the other losing semi-finalist so both the finalists have an extra £1 each
