Jan gave Sue the lead by scoring an own goal before Sue's team scored a few minutes later to seal their win.  In a match which the stats showed as 50/50 possession, Anna took an early lead but Pete scored twice in the second half to secure the win and in another 50/50 match with a red card a piece, Andy scored three away at Ted's to win 3-1.

 

Chris hosted Margs and took an early lead before Margs equalised just before half time, but a penalty early in the second half condemned Margs to her fourth away defeat of the season and she is rapidly saving her coins in the pot to spread the cost of the curry!

 

Barnsley took an early lead but Shirley's £8million striker scored at home and Numo Gomes struck late on to clinch the three points and hold the top of the table free curry spot. Jim at home had a three goal lead but had to survive as Jane battled back but she only managed two goals and left all the points with Jim. Amy's visit to Dave was described as an impressive fightback as she came from 1-0 down to take a 3-1 lead (Dave's consolation 2nd goal was in the 90th minute), their first win at Elland Road since 1987.  Keith clinched a 2-0 win away at Millwall, Kelly won 2-1 away at Peterborough and Dan won 1-0 away at Scott scoring a penalty although it seems Scott were unlucky not to be awarded any penalties of their own.  Lyn's Blackpool scored twice in each half to win 4-1 over Colin.

 

As for Paula and Mick - we should have all seen the 9minutes till the Milliner comments.

CCC - Match Reports & Updates

Friday's televised match saw Paula's Crystal Palace record a second successive win and their first league win against Jane's Charlton at The Valley since 1968. Jane thought she'd scored after half and hour but the goal was disallowed as offside.  In injury time Jane's goal keeper joined his team mates in the box but the home side was unable to score and Paula 51st minute goal means she goes above Jane in the table and pays less!  Meanwhile Dan's Brighton went top of the table overnight after thrashing Ted's Sheffield Wednesday 3-0.

Despite having more of the possession and celebrating their 125th anniversary, Lyn's Blackpool were only able to pick up a point at Barnsley and she was unable to regain top spot. Margs's words of encouragement on the blog inspired her Bolton team to a 'narrow' 2-1 win over Scott's Watford. (I don't care how narrow it is - it's a win!). Keith's Cardiff made the most of the home advantage and beat Dave's Leeds by a similar score-line, all the goals scored in ten second-half minutes.

Colin's Middlesborough had a better scoreline over Jan's Ipswich winning 2-0 with the second goal scored in the 92nd minute and Andy's Team of the Week Huddersfield scored after 47seconds an held on to beat Jim's Derby 1-0. It turns out Derby's coach was stuck in traffic and they hadn't had time to warm up.  Meanwhile ex-Huddersfield player Rhodes, Shirley's £8million purchase scored for his new team in a match that was full of twists and turns away at Kelly's Bristol City. The home team took the lead after a minute but by half time Shirley was level and had taken the lead shortly after.  Kelly equalised but with 10 minutes to go Shirley took the lead only for Kelly to equalise again before Shirley made sure of a 5-3 with two injury time goals and clinches top spot from Dan and the free curry. 

With a better goal margin and rising up the table is Amy who after her posting on the blog scored four first half goals at home to Millwall and won 4-1 whilst Anna's home match against Peterborough had the same goal difference and saw her make a break from footing the biggest chunk of the curry.  Anna's Burnley took the lead only for Peterborough to equalise, take the lead and then scoring an equalising own goal for Anna before half time.  Three late goals including a penalty gave Anna the 5-2 win something unheard of last season.

Mick's Blog posting was perhaps more of a reminisce than inspiring but although he didn't get the win he wanted he will perhaps be happy with a point after the visitor's, Chris' Birmingham had taken a 2 goal lead and Mick's equaliser was an own goal from Chris.

Sunday's fixture was Sue V Pete and having secured a two goal lead early in the first half Sue held on to win 2-1, take the points and move away from the maximum curry bill spot. Pete still hasn't earnt a point on his travels yet this season by it is early days.

CCC Team of the Week - Andy

After featuring as Team of the Week, Shirley's Blackburn went on a spending spree and splashed out £8million on Jordan Rhodes, but what about the team he left behind.

A short trip of about an hour cross country on the A646 gets us to Huddersfield Town. It's a team formed in 1908 which has played for the majority of their history in the top two tiers of English football. In 1926, they became the first English team to win three successive league titles – a feat which only three other clubs have matched – Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United.

From Blackburn's Rovers we change to Terry the Terrier complete with his own webpage. Nice pose!

Huddersfield are currently in a ‘New Era’ of being there for the fans and the Club has been nominated for an nine accolades at the Football League Awards, scooping the titles of ‘Family Club of the Year’ and ‘Best Matchday Programme’.  The current Football League Independent Supporters Survey ranks Huddersfield Town first out of all 72 Clubs at communication with supporters, attracting new fans and creating a great match day experience.  In the Centenary season 2008-09 the Chairman made concessions to the fans and Adult season tickets were as little as £100 – 16,213 were sold twice more than the previous season.

This is not as exciting as the fact that they play at the John Smith's Stadium named just last month (previously Alfred McAlpine stadium). A ground with four semicircular stands but gaps at the corners - will that make it windy? It is shared with Huddersfield Giants rugby league side and serves it's customers John Smith’s, Foster’s, Heineken, Strongbow and Bulmers cider.  It has business and conference suites, community health and leisure centre, 30 bay golf driving range, nine screen cinema, coffee shop, restaurant and bar facilities.  Lots to do if the football is boring!

However, the football on the pitch shouldn't be boring and they are a team that have dabbled in the Playoffs as 2010 semi-finalists, 2011 finalists and they are in the Championship courtesy of winning the Playoff from League One in 2012. Even that was unique beating Sheffield United in a shoot-out which was the longest contested in the current League One play-offs format. Eleven rounds took place, the final score was 8–7 to Huddersfield.  They had a successful season last year and on 19 November 2011, their 2–1 victory over Notts County meant Huddersfield broke Nottingham Forest's long-standing 42-match unbeaten league record, the Terriers went 43 games unbeaten (which doesn't include the play-off run, when they lost 3–0 to Peterborough United. On 28 November 2011, Huddersfield lost their first in 44 games 2-0 to Charlton Athletic.
November 1987 lost 10-1 to Manchester City in their worst ever season finishing 12 points behind the second bottom team.  It was the same margin as their biggest win 10-1 over Blackpool in December 1930 in their worst ever season finishing 12 points behind the second bottom team.

And so for the little history lesson for Amy - something that happened before the time she was born or was crawling round in nappies. Well there is a curry to go to and I have been having trouble finding the actual dates so I'll be posting it as a comment. Watch this space...
