CCC Derby Day for the first household (Oxford v Sunderland)

Monday, 21 April 2025

Congratulations Leeds and Burnley

What a weekend for the Beales.

We had a great trip to Norwich on Friday and saw Pompey demolish Norwich 3-5. (Hard to celebrate when in the home end).  Later Leeds grabbed a win getting them one step closer.

Today Pompey won at home and secured another season in The Championship and Leeds did a cracking job of beating Stoke (Sue) 6-0.  We have just watched Burnley (Chris) beat third place Sheffield United (Kevin) which has ensured promotion for Leeds (Dave) and Burnley (Chris).

Currently we know that Sheffield Wednesday (Kevin) and Sunderland (Karen) are in the playoffs to be joined by two others.

From the Premiership we are rejoining by Southampton and Leicester and unless the miracle of miracles happens, Jan's Ipswich.

From League One, Chris' Birmingham return to the Championship.

Below is the potential cost at this stage (obviously it will change but it is a guide (sort of). Two prices shown depending on whether we successfully negotiate £15 a head or have to go with £15.50 a head - probably the latter)

Watch this space for more details of the curry on Sunday 12th somewhere in Horley.

CCC update - table and Dave at Leeds

Here is the table at the time of the International break. Portsmouth have got their first Fratton Park win in the Championship since Tuesday 17th April 2012, the penultimate game of the season before they were relegated 4 days later against Derby (Thanks Jim!).

In other news, Rooney is still at Plymouth and hasn't been sacked yet.

Curry is based on a cost of £15 a head

Here is proof that Dave has seen Leeds play at Norwich on 1st October. Anyone else seen their team this season?

look closely it is the Leeds coach

Current state of play CCC - season 23-24

 Hi All,

A few have been asking how much they owe (approximately).  Well let's be frank, people are more curious about how much Kevin will have to pay. His management style hasn't turned around the yoyo team of Rotherham this year.

Here are the scores on the doors - current curry costs (based on 24 people x £15 but we have £24 remaining in the kitty to soften the blow this year!).  That currently has saved Kevin £4.15

 more to come very soon

Mon 16th  Sue V Amy

CCC - automatic promotion decided - last match of the season on Saturday

So Andy's Fulham have seized the Championship title and a free curry and Kevin's Bournemouth also get promoted to the Premiership as they secured second place on My 2rd when they beat Mick's Forest.  Question is has Kevin seen Bournemouth live this season?

Mick's Nottingham Forest and Sue's Huddersfield became the first sides to qualify for the play-offs, far enough away from the rest of the pack on 79 points each. (Weren't Huddersfield always a bogey team that everybody passed on?)

Shirley's Sheffield United are in fifth spot going into the final game of the season (good choice there Shirley!) and Amy's Luton (The Hatters) lie sixth with both on 72 points.  Both are two points ahead of Colin's Middlesbrough and three ahead of Sharon's Millwall but both these teams have a better goal difference than Luton's +7 following their 7-0 loss to Fulham last weekend.  Luton need to concentrate on a win against Reading to guarantee their place but Millwall face Bournemouth on the south coast so that won't be easy for them.

Dave has the most expensive curry and Dan's Peterborough and Jim's Derby also face relegation.

Coming up from League One we have Wigan Athletic and the 'bouncers' Rotherham (they are similar to Fulham but springboard between different divisions).  In the playoffs Sunderland start tomorrow by playing Sheffield Wednesday whilst Wycombe Wanderers are currently leading Milton Keynes Dons as I type.  And the most weird fact - Milton keynes Dons are 20 years old - who would have thought that!

Here is current curry costs but it will change Saturday lunchtime.

CCC - it's been a while and now stuff is happening!

It has been a while since we have posted anyone's fortunes (or the fortune they will need to fork out - I think having 3 curries in a season has confused me!!)

Andy's Fulham have clinched their 3rd promotion in 5 years and he may secure the free curry if he beats Bournmouth this weekend.   No doubt Andy will have watched Fulham at various grounds around the country.

At the other end of the table Dave's Barnsley have had a rubbish season and he is last place but with a game in hand over the Rams it is Jim's Derby who have taken the first relegation spot - the 21 point deduction was always going to make it a difficult season.

I have never liked Rooney. (...not since he should have been sent off at Fratton Park and even walked off the pitch only to be sent back on again by his manager when the ref gave him only a yellow.  The press next day said the ref was lenient because he was only young, if he was too young to play in the team don't play him or certainly don't pay him the stupid wages that footballers get - don't get me started....!!!!).  However, I am sad for Jim as Derby is genuinely the team he has followed for years and he has had them in the CCC since he joined in 2012_13 season.  That now leaves only Chris as having only had one team in the CCC. Whilst he will be at the expensive end I suspect he will be keeping them in for the next season.

REMINDER: The curry will be on Sunday 29th May in Horley - more on that soon.  Please let me know if you can't make it or will be sending a substitute.

CCC - end of the year

As we have reached the end of another weird year I thought it was time to update you on the CCC standings.

Derby have incurred another points deduction and Reading had one too.  Bournemouth are still flying high at the top.

Here is the latest table, but all to pay for.  There is still hope for Jim, this week's win saved him £3

CCC - it's all about The Midlands (belatedly)

It is a while since I have posted but here is an update on what has been happening in the CCC. Mostly it has centred around the Midlands with Forest (Mick) sacking their manager on 16th September and the Derby (Jim) going into administration on 22nd September giving them a 12 point penalty.  With another 9point deduction on the horizon for financial irregularities Jim has a lot to do to keep the only club he has ever had in the Championship in the CCC.  Kevin and Ted have been battling for top spot.  And Shirley is realising that taking Sheff Utd over Hull or Peterborough was possibly a good move.

Remember guys the Curry is on Sunday 6 to 6.30 Curry Inn Horley RH6 7PP. Bring the right money please. Hope to be in Foresters from about 5.15

CCC - new season starts

So with no actual CCC curries to properly finish the season for two years and the Euros and Olympics being on the telly - it was a bit of a shock that the Championship season was starting again!!

4 teams haven't yet played but here is the table after Day 2.  Personally the season can end now.

Don't forget we have the curry for 2019-2020 booked from Sunday 3rd October.

CCC - latest update

It has been a while and there aren't many matches to go.  Kate and Andy are already promoted.  And we know the four teams in the playoffs.  Have you all watched your team play this season and posted a photo of you watching on the blog so you can claim them back?

Technically Wycombe aren't down but for them to stay up (which they have only done 9 times all season) and reduce the goal difference by 13 goals compared to Derby and Derby have to lose (they have lost their last 5).

For those of you wondering how we are going to cope with two seasons... simple, two curries weeks or months apart.  It would not be fair on those that earnt a cheap curry to abandon last season and nor would it be fair to half the cost and roll into one.  Remember Dave got the free curry last year and I live with Dave :-).   Two curries in one day Dan is more than any stomach should have to cope with unless you are abroad!

Derby day in the Pine-First household....on the plus side Wycombe still firmly anchored to the bottom of the table...even though they scraped a lucky win :-)!!!

Owls v Bees

Me and Dan witnessed a tantilising match last night, with Dan running out the winner 2-1. Not sure if I'm going to need a claim this season though, promotion is a bit of a long shot.

CCC - ladies still on top !!!!

Whilst it is international break there is time to catch up on the CCC.  Kelly and Lyn have maintained their 100% record and share the same goal difference.  Stoke are surprisingly less than the cost of a curry and Ted has made a dent in his huge starting point and is now at £69.29 but it is a long way to go.

correction Barnsley = Dave rather than Anna paying twice!

Monday, 28 September 2020

Kelly and Lyn have a freebie

I'm not sure that these two lovely ladies have ever had a free curry at any stage of the season before so it would be remiss of me not to post it whilst that is the case.  Perhaps a little cruelly Kelly beat Ted who's Owls are desperate for points to get out of negative. Interestingly if he had drawn it would have saved him only 50p although a win would have saved him a tenner.  The Midlands teams are no faring so well at the start of this season.

Start of 20-21 season - it's started and Ted is reducing his debt rapidly!

Hi all, so the new season has started. More about admin at another time, but for now the important news for Ted.  Ted wanted to know how much his curry was costing him due to his 12 point deduction.

Assuming the curry will be £11 (can't really assume that now) before the season started Ted would have been paying the lot £264.

On the first evening Watford won and that saved Ted £50.50 as everyone else owed a bit.  Managing to win himself on the Saturday, Ted in now down to the mere sum of £99.99 a dramatic saving of 62% in 2 days.  Most of us would be happy with that (if you didn't start so high!).  Here is where you are for now.

CCC - season is finally over

What a night that was! How exciting with so many teams with stuff to play for, promotion, playoffs and relegation.  Goals going in and the situation changing constantly - if I'd been on the ball I'd have done some sort of spreadsheet,

Anna did no favours for Dan and I ruined Mick's chances.  Lyn laid down and let Neil sneak into the playoffs. Congratulations to Dave and Karen on promotion.

Despite their recent form trying to launch themselves as high as possible, Wigan were in the situation that their 12 point deduction was applied as they could get relegated and relegated they have been ..... but they hope to appeal. Kate's curry more than doubled overnight.

Not sure when the curry will be - we need to find a curry house big enough for social distancing or a big venue and a takeaway.  Anyone any thoughts?
