CCC Derby Day for the first household (Oxford v Sunderland)

Monday, 21 April 2025

Congratulations Leeds and Burnley

What a weekend for the Beales.

We had a great trip to Norwich on Friday and saw Pompey demolish Norwich 3-5. (Hard to celebrate when in the home end).  Later Leeds grabbed a win getting them one step closer.

Today Pompey won at home and secured another season in The Championship and Leeds did a cracking job of beating Stoke (Sue) 6-0.  We have just watched Burnley (Chris) beat third place Sheffield United (Kevin) which has ensured promotion for Leeds (Dave) and Burnley (Chris).

Currently we know that Sheffield Wednesday (Kevin) and Sunderland (Karen) are in the playoffs to be joined by two others.

From the Premiership we are rejoining by Southampton and Leicester and unless the miracle of miracles happens, Jan's Ipswich.

From League One, Chris' Birmingham return to the Championship.

Below is the potential cost at this stage (obviously it will change but it is a guide (sort of). Two prices shown depending on whether we successfully negotiate £15 a head or have to go with £15.50 a head - probably the latter)

Watch this space for more details of the curry on Sunday 12th somewhere in Horley.

CCC update - table and Dave at Leeds

Here is the table at the time of the International break. Portsmouth have got their first Fratton Park win in the Championship since Tuesday 17th April 2012, the penultimate game of the season before they were relegated 4 days later against Derby (Thanks Jim!).

In other news, Rooney is still at Plymouth and hasn't been sacked yet.

Curry is based on a cost of £15 a head

Here is proof that Dave has seen Leeds play at Norwich on 1st October. Anyone else seen their team this season?

look closely it is the Leeds coach

Current state of play CCC - season 23-24

 Hi All,

A few have been asking how much they owe (approximately).  Well let's be frank, people are more curious about how much Kevin will have to pay. His management style hasn't turned around the yoyo team of Rotherham this year.

Here are the scores on the doors - current curry costs (based on 24 people x £15 but we have £24 remaining in the kitty to soften the blow this year!).  That currently has saved Kevin £4.15

 more to come very soon

CCC - automatic promotion decided - last match of the season on Saturday

So Andy's Fulham have seized the Championship title and a free curry and Kevin's Bournemouth also get promoted to the Premiership as they secured second place on My 2rd when they beat Mick's Forest.  Question is has Kevin seen Bournemouth live this season?

Mick's Nottingham Forest and Sue's Huddersfield became the first sides to qualify for the play-offs, far enough away from the rest of the pack on 79 points each. (Weren't Huddersfield always a bogey team that everybody passed on?)

Shirley's Sheffield United are in fifth spot going into the final game of the season (good choice there Shirley!) and Amy's Luton (The Hatters) lie sixth with both on 72 points.  Both are two points ahead of Colin's Middlesbrough and three ahead of Sharon's Millwall but both these teams have a better goal difference than Luton's +7 following their 7-0 loss to Fulham last weekend.  Luton need to concentrate on a win against Reading to guarantee their place but Millwall face Bournemouth on the south coast so that won't be easy for them.

Dave has the most expensive curry and Dan's Peterborough and Jim's Derby also face relegation.

Coming up from League One we have Wigan Athletic and the 'bouncers' Rotherham (they are similar to Fulham but springboard between different divisions).  In the playoffs Sunderland start tomorrow by playing Sheffield Wednesday whilst Wycombe Wanderers are currently leading Milton Keynes Dons as I type.  And the most weird fact - Milton keynes Dons are 20 years old - who would have thought that!

Here is current curry costs but it will change Saturday lunchtime.
